Galilee

Upon arrival at Tel Aviv airport where, after passport control we will be assisted with luggage and escorted to meet our guide. We will transfer to our hotel in the Galilee for dinner and overnight.

Overnight Tiberias (D)

Galilee

This morning we will enjoy a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee, followed by a visit to Beit Allon to view the ancient fishing boat dating back to the 1st century. On to Tabgha, site of the Miracle of the Loaves and Fishes, and visit the Church of the Multiplication with its 4th century mosaic floor. Continue to Capernaum to see the 2nd century synagogue where Jesus peached and where He gathered his disciples. Our next stop is Mount of Beatitudes, site of the Sermon on the Mount, to reflect on the serene beauty and the event that took place on the site. We then driver to Caesarea Philippi (Paneas, Banias) where Peter made his confession of

Faith and identified Jesus as the Messiah.

We return to our hotel for dinner.

Overnight Tiberias (B,D)

Galilee

We pass Cana of Galilee on our way to Nazareth where we will visit the church of The Annunciation and Mary’s Well.  On to Muchraka, the location of Elijah’s Altar when he confronted the false prophets of Baal. Continue to Caesarea, built by Herod The Great in 22 BC; we will see the Roman Theater, the Aqueduct, and the Herodian port. It was in Caesarea that Cornelius was baptized by Peter, and where Paul was brought to trial. On our return to our hotel we will drive thought the Valley of Armageddon and stop at the excavation of Tel Megiddo.

Overnight Tiberias (B,D)

Jerusalem

Driving along the shore of the Sea of Galilee we arrive at Yardenit – the Baptismal site on the River Jordan, and on the city of Beit Shean (Scythopolis) to see the impressive Roman ruins.

From here we drive along the River Jordan Valley, and bypassing Jericho, we arrive at Bethlehem; visit the church of The Nativity, the Milk Grotto, Shepherds Field, and Manger Square. Proceed to our hotel in Jerusalem.

Dead Sea & Masada

Today we will travel via the Inn of The Good Samaritan to the lowest point of earth – the Dead Sea. Driving along its shores we arrive at Masada; ascend by cable car to the top of the mountain and see Herod’s palace, the food storeroom, and the water irrigation system. Continue to Ein Gedi, where King David found shelter from the wrath of King Saul. Weather permitting we will have the opportunity to enjoy a short float in the Dead Sea. Next stop is Qumran where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered.

Return to Jerusalem for dinner and overnight. (B,D)

The Old City of Jerusalem

We enter the walled city through St. Stephen’s Gate, visiting the Pool of Bethesda, the Chapel of the Flagellation, and Ecce Home Arch. Walking along the Via Dolorosa and last stations of the Cross, arriving at the Church of The Holy Sepulchre and view the Gabbatha Pavement. On to the Jewish quarter visiting the Cardo, the wide wall built by King Hezekiah, and the Herodian Mansion. Proceed to the Temple area – Mount Moriah; situation permitting we will see the Dome of the Rock. We see the Western Wall and visit the Ophel archaeological park and museum.

Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Jerusalem

Full day at leisure

Overnight Jerusalem (B,D)

Tel Aviv

Visit the Shrine of the Book where the Dead Sea Scrolls are on display, and the model of Jerusalem at the time of the 2nd Temple. On to Mount of Scopus, then Mount of Olives for a panoramic view of Jerusalem; visit the Chapel of Ascension, the Garden of Gethsemane and the Church of All Nations. Driving along the Kidron Valley we will see the Tombs of Absalom, Zecharia, and James. We continue to Mount Zion to visit the Room of The room of The Last Supper and King David’s Tomb. The tour ends at the Garden Tomb where we will have an orientation beside Calvary and Communion service.

We will enjoy a farewell dinner before reaching the airport for our flight home
